When Sass introduced the scss syntax I started using it, and it was sold by saying that css is valid scss. And, it is still. I can take any css file I import, change its file extension to scss, and Sass no longer complains. To me removing importing of css pretty much defeats the entire purpose of the scss syntax. I'm not writing a custom importer just so I can import a few css. That's adding additional unnecessary complexity to a process that's already way more complicated than it should be.
I wrote a bit the other day showing my thoughts about social media and my move away from Twitter: https://dustinwilson.com/blog/birdshit/
It is really sad Edge is going away. We need competition on the Web now more than ever. Microsoft really didn't do a good job with Edge selling it to people. How could it ever have a chance when people were taught for years that the blue e was crap and to stay away from using it because it was unsafe for their computers? From a purely design standpoint they failed before anyone ever opened the browser.
This here event where ownership of a npm module was transferred over to a malware actor has me wound up in a bit of paranoia.
It isn't that we didn't see this coming. A lot of people did and warned about this exact scenario. For example: https://hackernoon.com/im-harvesting-credit-card-numbers-and-passwords-from-your-site-here-s-how-9a8cb347c5b5
It's more that it triggers, again, my worry about how unsustainable the current OSS ecosystem looks, relying almost entirely on unpaid labour and burnt out maintainers.
Which is a very 😱 kind of thought.
Liking Mast for the most part. Wish I could disable the long-hold thing all together. By default it changes the theme, so whenever I try to copy text it would change the theme. Now it just shows confetti and celebrates my text selection. Also wish it had a way to add descriptions to images for accessibility reasons.
#Inktober Day 11 #cruel. Way too far behind to catch up now, but oh well! This is a shoebill stork, a bird native to Africa whose young fight to the death in a cruel showing of survival of the fittest. That cruelty is outshone by the fact they’re nearly killed to extinction because they’re believed to be “unlucky”. #InktoberDay11 #creativeToots #mastoArt https://mastodon.dustinwilson.com/media/add3QNGF1p4-twA6M94
#Inktober Day 9 #precious. I wanted to show how precious wildlife is. Black Rhinos are almost hunted to extinction. This depicts a baby rhino and a projection of her parent. Not sure if that registers, probably would better if I had something in the background. #mastoArt #creativeToots https://mastodon.dustinwilson.com/media/gOr7NTEANsC6T7NQTXE
